Every year during the Songkran festival, my family and I perform a tradition of bathing the Buddha images in our home.
We would carefully clean the Buddha statues, prepare scented water mixed with flowers, and then gently pour the water over them as part of the ceremony.
In recent years, however, it has usually been just me, Peem, and Dee doing it. Because there are fewer of us, we've simplified the process quite a bit.
Now, we simply take the Buddha images down, clean them thoroughly, and place them back where they belong. While cleaning them, we consider that to be our way of performing the water-blessing ritual as well.
It's a much simpler version of the tradition, but the intention remains the same—and that's what matters most.
