The Bodhi leaf is a symbol of beginning.
It can mark the beginning of doing good — or the beginning of doing harm. We always have a choice. Yet sometimes we are born into difficult families, surrounded by harsh environments where negativity and wrongdoing are common. Those conditions can seep into the mind and influence our actions.
In this life, we have the opportunity to know the teachings of Buddhism — to understand right from wrong. So we should cultivate as much goodness as we can.
Because we do not know whether, in the next life, we will have the same chance to encounter these teachings again.
